Rachel Tobin diagnosed as a juvenile diabetic took her scars and turned them into stars. I am a type two diabetic and can appreciate the fundraising for diabetes research that Rachel Tobin does, by selling jewelry she creates herself. The beautiful young lady says grandma started her on beading as a young child. Her mom is now involved in the business of jewelry creation. Rachel has raised over forty thousand dollars for diabetes research. You go Miss Rachel Tobin! http://www.rachelscbd.com/index.php?id=3 Rachel’s website-

Please find a program to support the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. There are also programs that need your help for wounded warriors. You as an American citizen can choose from countless programs to help veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan to find employment. We also have a shameful problem of homeless veterans , you could help a homeless vet find a place to live. My favorite expression is you can not help everybody but choose one cause locally, nationally and universally and our challenges would be so much less in our world. Soooo. My causes are “Toys for Tots“. Any Marine.com, and “The Wounded Warrior Project“ Thanks, God bless,Patsy McCaw-Yager

The news is filled with stories, of schools, teachers, principals not fulfilling their promises to the students of today. In Florida, our news in the past few years have shown principals turning their heads to important issues in their own schools. God bless Principal Sherrie Gahn, of Whitney Elementary School in East Las Vegas! Principal Gahn came to the school 8 yrs ago. Gahn viewed the problem as a basic one, a student can not learn if basic needs such as getting enough food are not met. The student will not be able to absorb knowledge if he or she is hungry, scaired, has no place to live and dosen’t have a place to take a shower. Principal Whitney with an army of volunteers helps with all this and more. Asking the parents of these homeless children to turn them over to her to learn and she will find resources to help them live their daily lives and to take care of the families of the homeless students. I say God bless you principal While people compain about schools in our country, there are over 500 of good souls, helping the students of principal Gahn. The volunteers that are helping offer resources as well as services. Hair cuts, among other much needed skills are given freely and generously. There are people also who are sending money to help. Please check your local schools for programs that help students and their families. There are articles in local newspapers across the country telling of often dire needs of children in homeless shelters. Also if so inclined you could contact the school of Principal Gahn to see what you could do to help. Please see thestory on following link.
God bless, Patsy McCaw-Yager,Englewood

Gretchen Rubin went on a year-long journey to find out what would make her happy and in turn created a blog and a book we can all live by. I recently saw author Gretchen Rubin on my beloved ‘The Today Show‘. In June’s edition of Good Housekeeping, Gretchen is introduced as a new contributing editor.
Gretchen’s blog has so much valuable information that I became in awe of all this wonderful wisdom she shares with us and continues thru her blog to keep adding great seeds of truth to make our lives happier. In my blog ‘Taking On A Cause’ I implore my readers to find ways to aid, causes and people who need their help thru donating time or money. I love in Gretchen’s blog that she emphasizes be of service to others and that will make you happy. Gretchen also states helping others gets your mind off your own problems for a while. Often in cruel twists of fates the victims and or their families turn their tragedy into helping others. I don’t know if this would be called happiness but I do believe that it brings a peace in helping others avoid the fate that this person and their friends and family have endured. Locally here an example of this would be Nathan Lee of Englewood, Fl. and his family who are changing the way the 911 emergency response system works. Nathan Lee, has been instrumental in bringing new laws on how 911 operators are trained both here in Florida, and now nationally. Nathan does this in honor of his wife Denise Amber Lee . I believe by helping others Nathan is helping himself, his family, and people he will never know. Helping others in a situation where you can help others avoid the fate you had to live.gives you a feeling of some control. I have often heard people who seem so unhappy in their lives say they feel they do not have any control of their lives. Gaining control back is important to gain a way back to happiness in one form or another . http://deniseamberlee.org/To help support The Denise Amber Lee, foundation please see thet above link .
Gretchen has a year plan for you to follow called ‘The Happiness Project’.
http://www.happiness-project.com/happiness_project/start-.html
by going to this link you can start a plan for increasing your own happiness. I hope that this means that you will if not already, by putting in action the second rule of Gretchen’s and that is to help somebody, and by helping others you will help yourself with the reward of being more happy in your life.

Dear readers, I have to first of all -due to health challenges, tell you I now no longer drink Coke! They say after a while you no longer miss it. I wish that were true, but I do miss drinking a nice cold glass of Coca- Cola! I do however still enjoy watching others drink my beloved Coca-Cola. Yes, I know, that watching others partake of course is not “ The Real Thing“. Ok, enough with the puns. Coke has a cool program to turn coke bottlecaps that contain points in for prizes let you choose a charity to support. Coke gives you many options from which to choose a neat charity-organization. A few Christmas seasons ago, I turned in several thousands of reward points to the “Toy’s for Tots”, that the wonderful Marines run each year. The Marine Corps are very happy I am sure to have Cocoa Cola’s support with the no child without a Christmas program they organize yearly I still take part with the reward s by collecting the bottle caps from frienssas well as their unwanted cardboard container the multi packaged cans come in. Dear readers even if you don’t drink Coke, maybe you know someone who does, but isn’t interested in the reward program. Take a look today at the Coca-Cola site and see what charities you can donate to! If you are already donating Coke reward points to good causes, maybe you could spread the word to those who are not as savvy as you. God bless, and please let me know any other ways you donate to charities without money! Just starting looking for points on the inside of the caps and go to My Coke Rewards on your browser!

Dear Folks, today as I am looking out my window that shows the back yard and anal, I feel truly blessed. At one time I was a single mom, living on a very busy street that led to I-75 the biggest expressway in Mich. I-75 extends thru the state of Florida, where I now live. I as a 27 year old woman looked out to see concrete in my front yard. Now thirty years later I look out too see a beautiful canal view. I want you to know however that in the home with the concrete view, I also felt truly blessed. I had both my children, Taren Wilson, and David Ashwell. In those days I often was in a survival mode to take care of my children,my animal family, at the time my Paleface and Nate. I now am at the point that I can give back in a more substantial way than I could when I was a young lady with a lot of responsiabilities. I started this blog “Taking On A Cause ” to let people know ways they can help causes, and people, that are bothin their community and located nationally in our country and finally around the world. I really want to support good people doing good things and I have been able to do that! I am growing and have ways I want to improve and grow this blog. One very good idea that I came upon is Social Vibe. Social Vibe, which allows a person to take action and support great organizations, is a short advertisement program , answering questions and gaining credits or as they call them balloons for a charity. To find out how you can join and encourage others to participate in the -Social Vibe program, please see the following link. http://www.socialvibe.com/ DEAR FRIENDS, please hit the Social Vibe Icon to the right and help raise credit-balloons for “The Childrens Miracle Network”!

I appreciate very much that many celebrities encourage their fans to think outside the box in one’s life and to look around their own neighborhood and town for opportunities to volunteer. Harrison Ford, one of my favorite actors is walking the walk, not just doing the talk. Harrison, recently along with his son Ben, appeared in an advertisement campaign, to make the public aware of the many agencies, who could use people to spend some of their personal time and talents in helping a great cause. In the one advertisement, Harrison and Ben who are ambassadors for the organization EIF - the “Entertainment Industry Foundation“, a group that seeks out opportunities in several ways a person can volunteer. This magazine article that I read featured ”Create The Good Organization” as a source for ways to volunteer. The article informs a person of several different opportunities available for one to volunteer. This article also mentions the volunteering opportunities that are literally in one’s own backyard. Something as helping an elderly neighbor with lawn maintenance or by running errands for the neighbor or even assisting the neighbor by driving them to an appointement. On this blog ,”Takingonacause” I realize that especially the little everyday events like preparing a meal ,or walking a dog, for someone who is recovering from surgery ,may not seem like a big deal, but for the person who is not able to do these daily tasks, someone helping them is a God send. For a person to volunteer to do these services, a feeling of accomplishment often is the result of the good deed. He or she has accomplished will often feel they have done something worthwhile. Please, take a look locally for ways you can help your own community or the website http://createthegood.org/ you might think of some ways you can help a person which helps all of us.
