I attended the funeral of a hero January 25,2010, Army Staff Sgt, Ronald J.Spino, his parents live in nearby Venice, Florida. Sgt, Spino, .who died while unloading medical supplies  was the light of his family‘s life.  Military officials say Staff Sgt. Ronald Jay Spino from Waterbury, Conn., died Dec. 29 in Bala Morghab, a village in Badghis province.  Sgt, Spino, shot while unloading supplies to save other soldiers lives.  I am honoring Staff Sgt, Ronald J.Spino today for he is a true hero. To the family of Ron, God bless you always.   To his brother Jim, and all of your friends at Loveland, I ,want  you to know you are in my prayers, and your hero brother is admired not only for his career in the Army but his love for the wonderful “Loveland” and the volunteering he did to help the wonderful people who attend the valuable programs and show them every adult can be honorable , even those who are challenged.  Jim, your brother would have been so proud of you and the wonderful members of the Loveland family, the day of his service.  You Jim, showed more honor and courage in the honoring of your wonderful brother than would be expected of someone saying goodbye to his brother.  I am sure you know that your brother is proud of you.  God bless, The Spino family,God bless, America. I wanted to let everyone know that with Memorial Day tomorrow,  what I feel the day is truly  about. For some of you that have lost friends or family , I apologize to you personally and it is not for you who live Memorial day each and every day.  Growing up I was taught both at home , school, and church about Memorial day and the respect it so richly deserves.  I am worried when I am in a situation where young people no longer stand for the pledge of allegiance.  Often, I talk to people who see the holiday as an excuse for a day off.  On the side of the glass half full,we have young people who are going off to serve in a branch of  the military.  Chance Phelps, was a young man who was a Marine thru and thru. The first time I saw this film, I knew the film would win awards for excellence and awards for the superb performance of Kevin Bacon who portrays a Marine officer who asks to serve as the escort for the return home of the  decorated war hero Marine Chance Phelps, who was three months short of twenty years old when he lost his life serving our country.  Please watch or record the movie for a time when you and family can watch and discuss this together.   Chance loved his life, the Marine Corps.  and his family.  God bless, those he left behind.  He was what the best of what America is.Lance Cpl. Chance Phelps, USMC, is also the subject of an essay  in the book ‘Faces of Freedom.’ Click the photo to learn more about the book.  The young Marine was wearing his Saint Christopher medal  when he died, and that was on Good Friday.

Undercover cops have infiltrated an illegal dog fighting ring
and need the SPCA investigators to raid one of the suspects’ properties   Please view the Animal Cops program today on the seizure of over 200 dogs. Unfortunately, these dogs were all euthanized, as they are big risks in adoption.  There is no excuse to fight dogs. Dogs, are not tools for torture.  They live a sad life of abuse and no support or love, there are people who say to me often, well there are kids out there being abused, how about them? Ok, I can be against child abuse and still be against animal cruelty, they are not exclusive to each other. Often, I have seen the facts that support the argument cruel to animals, cruel to people. People who use dogs to fight are sending horrible messages to their children.  Showing a child that its “fun or enjoyment” to watch dogs tear each other apart is disturbing!   Please people, if you know someone involved in dog fighting you can report this anonymously,  contac the National Humane Society, and they will show what you can do to help tortured dogs or stop this inhumane and evil activity.  This is not a sport!  God bless, Patsy McCaw-Yager. supporter of Suncoast Humane Society,Englewood,Fl.

Suspects Wanted In Cruel Beating of Brian Stow

There is still one man suspect, and a woman accomplice, and a child witness.  Please folks take a look at the pictures. I realize most who read this will not live in the area that this horrible beating to Bryan Stow took place, but I believe there may be a chance that the very mean people involved may have gone to a new place to avoid being arrested!  Thankyou to the parole officer who came forward and gave the much-needed information on Giovni Ramirezan !  Let’s find these people and hold them accountable.  God bless, Patsy McCaw-Yager, Englewood, Fl.

I think that we are losing a battle for nice looking mail and sending handwritten notes and personal cards. I miss my poppa and momma very much, and for many reasons. One of the reasons is my momma and dad were card and letter senders.  They learned that from my grandma, mum McCaw.  My dad would spend time looking for just the right card, I am sure Hallmark‘s stock went down after he passed.  I have dear friends and family who send me personalized cards. that say to wife,mother, cousin, niece, but some of my family have stopped sending personal cards to me , if any cards at all. A quick text or email to wish me the best on a holiday or an anniversary,   is often what I may receive instead of a card. I am thankful they remember, but I really do  miss my cards with the heading of what I mean to a person.  I love it when I get a card that says special friend, or just a note to say hello. I have saved cards from a very young age and still do.  I love to open a brightly covered envelope with stickers or stamped decorations. I especially love when the sender also encloses a special message to me.  My cousin Bob Lange, is especially sweet about sending me a nice note in my cousin cards he sends me.  I love also getting a nice post card when people travel, I miss those, last time I got one  was from my son over five years ago.  When I was in junior high school, sealing wax was a big deal.  I remember working at summer camp and sending  sealed letters to my family and friends.  I loved purchasing different colors of sealing wax and different stamps it was pretty neat.  I love the modern technology as you can tell, but I don’t think you have to exclude the old ways of communication with the personal touches.  I know I am  very blessed person, that this is small  potatoes to some.  I laugh and tell people I am a card person, I like sending and getting them.  I try to take time to pick the right card for someone. One birthday a few years back my friend sent me a birthday card with two young girls, the one had red hair and my friend said it reminded her of me.  I had just the same thought when I opened it.  I often give cards to people at church, work,  social situations and some people are taken aback.  They are surprised that someone  would care about their success or their sorrow. I had a friend who wrote in most beautiful calligraphy she is gone now but I still have some of her notes that I treasure.  I know people say they that they are so busy they just don’t have the time.  The friend who spends time picking out just the right card, she has three jobs, her name is Penny Luebs,and she is the mayor of Clawson, Mi. now.  If anyone is busy, it is this single mom of a 12-year-old and also very involved with church and charitable work!  If she can do it, well …Hallmark has a program to get points for purchasing items from their stores you can sign up at Hallmark.com and also check on current contests.

Did you ever see a story on television about a person and think , that person and I could be friends.  A couple of nights ago that happened to me after watching a story on Kathy Strong, 50 from Walnut Creek, Ca.  Years ago, when a small child of twelve years old.Kathy put on the bracelet of a p.o.w.   She made a promise to wear the bracelet till he came home.  Kathy wore that bracelet for over forty years. After all a promise is a promise!

.Strong got that  bracelet in her Christmas stocking. Thru the years and the televised return of  several Vietnam P.O.W.‘ s  Kathy never faltered she wore the bracelet faithfully.  During a hospital visit that included an m.r.i. test Kathy would not remove her bracelet.

“I was really excited,” Strong said. “I read the paper that came with it. And
I just thought. I’m going to keep it on until he comes home.” she told C.B.S. television human interest reporter  Steve Hartman, who has done a series of stories on Kathy Strong and her dedication to wearing the bracelet that honored Vietnam P.O.W. James  Robert Moreland.

Strong, now 50 would, think about the name on the bracelet every day and I believe she will  probably think of him  every day for the rest of her life.  James Moreland a Green beret soldier, had a family that  miss him dearly.  They heard about Kathy and invited her to visit them, she did. The family felt close to Kathy due to her dedication to the memory and life of James Lee, or Les as he was known to them. James was the name known to his fellow soldiers.

Moreland. went missing in the winter of 1968. Kathy always remained positive he would come home and she would give him the bracelet. Thru the years  her faith and resolve did not waver!After 43 years, MIA hero is 'coming home'The family  of Moreland feel like Kathy has become  a part of a family and had her included in funeral plans for Moreland when after years d.n.a. confirmed remains and had them returned to the family for a full military funeral with all honor. I think Kathy is one cool chick for wearing a bracelet  for James Lee Moreland all those years. I want to tell her Kathy I was older than you when I got my bracelet in my teen years, and had the privilege of returning it to the family of Michael O’Connor from Warren, Mi.  I wore mine for about three years.  He came home to a city-wide celebration with extensive television and newspaper coverage.  If you would like to see the story on Kathy and James - please follow the link below on the  C.B.S. story and see Kathy give James his bracelet.  I say to people  yes in the world there are bad people , but I still believe there are more good people!  I now add Kathy Strong to my hero club for honoring her promise.  Hey, Kathy you have an open invitation to visit me here in Englewood, Fl. Oprah could well be thought of as the queen of doing good deeds for others.  The Chinese proverb, it talks of teaching a man to fish, so he can eat a lifetime,  instead of giving him a fish for a meal.  I watched the show that featured the ‘Give Back’ foundation and thought Oprah has sown seeds for years  to encourage the viewers to find their passion and to pursue it!   Often the passion one has in life is to help others in a way they  received encouragement at one time.  An example of giving back to a place that helped him, is Denzel Washington and ‘The Boys and Girls Club‘ his saving grace after his school day when Denzel’s mom was working and they gave him an alternative to going home alone.  In

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore at the Huffingto...

Ashton Kutcher is along with his wife, Demi Moore, a serious supporter and fundraiser for several charities and worthwhile causes.  It is refreshing to see someone who cares about the world around him be chosen to act in a show that makes people laugh and takes people away from what is  going on in the world for a while.  Ashton Kutcher is just a guy who likes to entertain and use his fame to help others.  Charlie Sheen the former star of Two and Half Men, has been so absorbed with his own self interests, be it from his descent back into drug abuse that he used the show as vehicle to inflict pain on ex-wife, Denise Richards, and basically anyone who was holding him accountable for his behavior.  I still feel sorry for Charlie, but he needs help and maybe now the reality that the show is now no longer focused on him, may be the push back to reality that Charlie needed.   Ashton, just makes this whole mess for C.B.S. now so much better.  He is a class act in the public eye. Mr Kutcher is friends with his wife Demi Moore’s ex-husband Bruce Willis, which just gives you an  idea on what kind of guy he is. Ashton, raises money for causes such as Japan relief, fighting human trafficking and spending his time working for children who need help in various ways.  There also many other ways he uses his time and resources to make life better for others. I think from a very small age he learned his compassionate ways from having a twin brother with severe health challenges. So, I say to Charlie Sheen’s former employers thankyou,for picking someone who has more to say in interview, than he is the man with tiger blood, and the gift to modern day world. Charlie I pray you get the help you need and to Ashton Kutcher, God bless, you I know you don’t need to take this job but you did, and doing so you helped in extending the career of many talented people on the show both in front of the camera and behind.  I look forward to watching you and the rest of the talented cast.
